La Guinée Equatoriale célèbre la première édition de son Festival de Cinéma Africain, organisé par le FCAT, Casa África et les Centres Culturels Espagnols

31/01/2010

The Spanish Cultural Centres in the cities of Malabo and Bata will be the headquarters, as of tomorrow, of the 1st African Film Festival of Equatorial Guinea, an event through which the Guinean people are able to come closer to the cinematographic wealth of Africa through the showing of nearly 40 films, many of which have won awards at various festivals throughout the world.

This consists of an initiative organised by the Tarifa African Film Festival (FCAT), Casa África and the Spanish Cultural Centres, which hopes to not only show films created in the continent, but also to serve as the start-up motor for the country´s cinematographic industry, which up until now, has not experienced significant development.

Aside from showing African films, the festival will have an extensive programme of parallel activities. Among them, the award-winning director, Coke Riobo, will teach an animation workshop through the stop-motion technique, while the director, Margarita Cardoso, will teach master classes to students from the National University of Equatorial Guinea and from UNED.

The Festival will also welcome the presence of the RNE journalist Javier Tolentino, who will teach radio journalism workshops that will culminate with the emission of three live radio programmes from Malabo.

On the other hand, the festival will house two photography exhibits: Photoafrica and Soutourá.

The Guinean writer, César Mba; the Director of the Tarifa African Film Festival, Mane Cisneros; the General Director of Casa África, Ricardo Martínez; and the film director, Omer Oke, among others, will participate in a round table held in Malabo to speak about the possibilities of film as a tool for development.
