A picture from Cameroon by César Hernández Maya wins the photographic 'Africa focus' contest

César Hernández Maya from Madrid has been declared the winner of the fifth edition of the photographic competition organised by Casa África under the name Africa Focus. The first prize in the contest was for his picture taken in a shelter converted into a chicken house in Bengbis, to the south of Cameroon, entitled I will not hunt in the jungle. César Hernández Maya's picture competed with the other 356 entries received from professional and amateur photographers from Spain, Argentina, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Italy and Burundi. This edition of Africa Focus rewards its winner with 600 euros and focuses on the sustainable economy in African contexts. The jury was composed of the photographers Lorena Morín y Nacho González Oramas, and Cristina R. Court, in charge of the Research Laboratory of the Atlantic Centre for Modern Art.

The second prize of Africa Focus, worth 200 euros, went to the picture called Looks, signed by Sara Medina Martinez (Ripollet, Barcelona), which shows an interior scene in a barber's shop in the town of Mbodiène (Senegal).

Alfons Moret Serralta (Fornells de la Selva, Girona) received third prize, also worth 200 euros, for the picture baptised Effort in harmony, which portrays the arrival of fishermen at M'Bour Beach (Senegal) after a day of traditional fishing.

This edition of photographic award Africa Focus wanted to reward the images that best make known the positive aspects of the African continent in relation to  sustainable economy,
