A native of Luanda (Angola), Arnaldo Moreira dos Santos was born in 1935. He spent his childhood in the Kinaxixi neighbourhood, which held a privileged place in his stories. After writing for some periodic publications of his country, at the age of 20 he edited his first collection of short stories: Quinaxixe (1965). This would be followed by the book titled Tempo do Munhungo, which earned him the Mota Veiga Award in 1968.
Reaching into his characters is a constant in his literature, specifically in the story titled A mulher do padeiro, in which he represents the conflictive coexistence between the Portuguese and the Luandan characters. Other titles that make up his bibliography are: Fuga (1960), Poemas no Tempo (1977), Na Mbanza do Miranda ( 1985), Cesto de Katandu e outros contos (1986) and Nova Memória da Terra e dos Homens (1987).
