Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
Black. Central African Art will depart Casa África´s exhibit halls on Friday, January 21st. Up until that day, visitors interested in experiencing the magic and the rituals of Central Africa may view it from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Free guided visits may also be requested for groups between 15 and 20 people.
Black is an exhibit ceded by the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, where the project emerged by the hand of its commissioners, Jesús Zoido Chamorro and Ferdulis Zita Odome Angone. It presents pieces of the Gabao Collection and it´s an exceptional opportunity to catch a glimpse of the extensive and varied art produced in Central Africa, with works created by the Fang, Punu, Téké, Kota, Mbété, Pygmy or Mangbetu ethnic groups.
The exhibit brings together objects made by artisans that are transformed into reliquaries for conserving the energy of deceased ancestors, masks to honour those who have passed away, harps and instruments that symbolise the gate to access the supernatural world.
