Casa África presents the work that last won the Essay Prize at the University of Sevilla

Last Monday Casa África presented the work that last won the last edition of  the Casa África’s Essay Prize. It is an essay entitled African agriculture. A present of changes and challenges , whose author Miguel Ángel Martín López, is a professor at the University of Sevilla. Ricardo Martínez Vázquez, Casa África's General Director, and the award winning Miguel Ángel Martín López were in charge of leading the presentation of the prized publication, included in the Essay Collection that Casa África undertakes together with Libros de La Catarata.

The challenge of achieving food safety in the African continent, with a frim commitment for biodiversity and fair and sustainable development, is the subject with which Miguel Ángel Martín López achieved his award. This text on African agriculture that talks about a continent so rich in fertile lands and thousand year old agricultural practices as is fragile when facing droughts, monoculture and speculation, explains the green revolution to us and underlines the opportunities that are presented by organic agriculture and the agro-industry, not only to satisfy African markets but to export food.  The author, has a doctorate in Political Science and is an associate professor  for Public International Law at the Hispalense University of Sevilla and is chief of International Development Cooperation at Cordoba Provincial Council . 

Casa África's Essay Prizes intends to recognise, give incentives to and disseminate original and unedited essays so that they can contribute to a better knowledge of the African continent. During this event, Casa África's General Director also presented the subject chosen for the new competition: Journalism, Communication and New Technologies in Africa.
