Africans and their African descendants in the world, protagonists of the photography competition "Africa Focus"

Diaspora and African descendants will be the protagonists of the Africa Focus photography competition, organised for the second consecutive year by Casa África with the aim of showing a positive image of the African continent and its people who face stereotypes and negative clichés normally associated to it. The announcement for the registration of the competition came from Blog África Vive and Casa África's social networks and will remain open until 12th 10.00 hour (Spanish time). The prizes are: a Canon EOS 60D reflex camera, two compact cameras, a musical compilation and exhibition catalogues from the organisation.

The theme chosen in this second edition will have as its protagonists, not only the Africans that live in Spain, but also African descendants that live anywhere in the world, so that the photographs can reflect aspects such as integration, diversity, multi-cultures, friendship and family, among others.

Africa Focus coincides with the celebration of the International Year of African Descendants, and in this second edition increases its prizes: a Canon EOS 60D reflex camera, two Canon IXUS 115 compact cameras, a compilation of 18 CDs called Africa. 50 years of music and different exhibition catalogues such as Welcome to paradise, Fragments of a new reality or Singularities.

The images can be voted for online through Blog África Vive between the 12th and 19th December. The jury is made up from photographers and artists, called together by Casa África, and who will choose four images for prizes and the internet users will select a fifth, by popular vote.
