The Governing Council of Casa África approved the Strategic Plan for the next three years

Casa África's Governing Council met today at the headquarters of the institution to approve, among other things, Casa África's Strategic Plan between 2015 and 2017 and the Budgets for 2015. The Council was chaired by the Director General of the Maghreb, Africa, Middle East and the Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC), Manuel Gómez-Acebo, and was attended by the Casa África's Director General, Luis Padrón López, and its General Secretary, Arianne Hernandez.

The fourteenth meeting of the governing board of the Casa África Consortium was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Economic Affairs with the European Union of the Canary Islands Government, Ildefonso Socorro, and the Mayor of Las Palmas, Juan José Cardona. The advisor of the Cabinet Minister, Rafael Luengo, and the chief of the ​​Public Diplomacy, Gonzalo Moro Aguiar also attended on behalf of MAEC.

At the meeting, Luis Padrón set out to the outlines of the institution's new Strategic Plan, based on three main pillars of action for the next three years: on the one hand, the boosting of Spanish-African relations which are mainly economic but also institutional; on the other, promoting Casa África as an area of meeting and exchange between public and private institutions in Spain and Africa, and finally, promoting the Canary Islands as a connection point between Spain and Africa.

The main objectives of the institution in 2015, are: the Constitution of the Board of Trustees, the organisation of a high level Africa-Spain Forum, commitment to improving Legal Certainty through the formula of arbitration for the resolution of conflicts, the diffusion in Spain of major economic reports about the continent and the creation of networks between major Spanish and African think-tanks to foster greater mutual understanding.

Padrón explained to Casa África's Governing Council how the programming for 2015 maintains the line in prioritizing work in the ​​Economic Diplomacy area, in order to promote greater awareness of Africa in Spain and of the potential it has for Spanish companies in their internationalization towards the neighbouring continent.

An amendment to the Statutes to adapt to recent regulatory changes were also approved at the Governing Council.
