Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.

Last night, Véronique Tshanda Beya presented the film Félicité by Alain Gomis, at the Pérez Galdós Theatre in the capital of Gran Canaria. The event took place as part of the 17th International Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with which Casa África is collaborating by bringing the participation of the Congolese actress.
After the first showing of the film, Véronique Tshanda Beya spoke of dreams and of overcoming difficulties, “Felicité is the reflection of the women of Kinsasa: strong independent women, fighters, who have to fend for themselves every single day”.
The preceding meeting with the press was attended by Encarnación Galván, Councillor for Culture of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Arianne Hernández, Secretary General of Casa África. A meeting that confirms the close collaboration between the two institutions.
The film will form part of the Official Section for competition in the festival after winning the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival. The Franco-Senegalese filmmaker Alain Gomis has focussed his fourth feature film, Félicité - a title taken from the name of its protagonist - on the story of a singer working in a cafe in Kinshasa. When her fourteen-year-old son has an accident, she undertakes a frenzied race through the streets of the Congolese capital. But the pain also introduces her to the man with whom she begins a love story.
