Casa Africa hosts a musical puppet show this week

12/01/2015

Casa África hosts two performances of the national tour of Speak, you are not alone, in the central courtyard of its headquarters, a musical and theatrical show with artists from Africa and the Canary Islands and produced by the company La Mar de Marionetas. The performances, open to the public and free, will be on Friday, 16th January at 5 p.m., and Saturday, 17th January at 12.30 p.m.

Speak, you are not alone is the story of Ana, a girl who does not want to leave her world and covered with her blanket keeps a secret that she does not want to reveal to anyone, until four musician friends, using traditional tales, try to communicate with her. The show features actors from the Canary Islands and from Guinea Bissau, where La Mar de Marionetas has carried out several puppet creation and puppeteers training projects.

Speak, you are not alone is a lively and vital history, adapted for children and families, and from which different readings can be drawn on a very deep-rooted problem, that unfortunately occurs in all societies: child abuse. It is conceived as a work of prevention and social awareness for the spectator, through art, understanding this problem in a playful and poetic way, without generating fear in children who have not had that experience, but introducing keys that can be recognised by those who have suffered it.
