Casa Africa invites the population of Gran Canaria to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela

Casa Africa opened the doors of its headquarters in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to everyone yesterday, 9th December from 7pm to 10pm to pay a peoples' tribute to Nelson Mandela, who died on Thursday evening 5th December in Johannesburg at the age of 95 . Those attending could sign a book of condolences which will be sent to the South African Embassy in Spain, light a candle, write their messages about Mandiba on coloured ribbons posts or even transcribe his most famous quotes. Furthermore, there was a reading of selected texts by the South African leader

On the occasion of the death of Madiba, Casa Africa published  the Nelson Mandela Special on its website as a tribute to the politician and South African Nobel Peace Prize winner. This is a section dedicated to the figure, history and legacy of the leader and includes an in-depth biography, best quotes, background content from Casa África's media library relating to him and plenty of resources on the Internet about him.

Anyone who wants to can come to Casa África to sign the condolence book until the 18th December, the date when it will be sent to the South African Embassy in Spain.
