Seminario "India en África: una presencia revitalizada en el siglo XXI"

This seminar, organised by Casa África, Casa Asia and the Instituto de Estudios sobre Conflictos y Acción Humanitaria (IECAH), focuses on studying India´s growing presence and involvement in Africa, specifically in the Sub-Saharan region.

Its aim is to identify the keys to the closer relationship in the various areas where it is visible. For this, the historic variables of India´s traditional links with this region will be addressed along with the combination of its current actions and policies with Sub-Saharan states, as well as its relations with other powers that are present in the region.

Some of the topics that will be discussed include:

  • Notes on the history of India´s relations with Sub-Saharan Africa through the beginning of the 21st century: presence of social, political, economic and security communities, links and relations.

  • Analysis of the common interests at stake between India and Sub-Saharan nations.

  • Sector study (socio-political, economic and security) of interrelations to date, as well as their local, regional and international implications.

  • Predictions on the relations between India and the Sub-Saharan region, and their consequences on the agenda of other actors (USA, EU, etc.).
