Fragmentos de una nueva historia, la exposición fotográfica de Zanele Muholi, llega a Francia

The exhibition Fragments of a new story, produced by Casa África on the work of the South African photographer Zanele Muholi, is now exhibited in the French city of Bordeaux, specifically in Mc2a and the gallery Arrêt sur l'image.

This exhibition can be viewed from26th November to 20th December 2013,  as part of the South Africa in France programming organised by the French Institute and the South African Ministry of Arts and Culture & NAC.

This exhibition includes a selection of work produced so far by this young female South African photographer. Curated by Sandra Maunac and Mónica Santos (Masasam) the exhibition is the result of Casa África's First Prize received by Zanele Muholi in the 2009 edition Photography Biennial of Bamako (Mali). This event, also known as "African encounters with Photography" is the basic platform for photographers that come from all over the continent and the diaspora, so that they can sow their images, extending and broadening the visual landscape of the international photographic panorama.

This award is made up from an exhibition, which consists of a selection of work carried out up till now by the award-winning artist and the publication ofa monographic book on her work, which will form part of a larger collection through the eyes of some women who participate and have participated in this biennial exhibition.

The work of Muholi shown at this exhibition is, in her own words, a work of "visual activism". All her determination and struggle, whose character is totally political, is aimed at giving a visibility to theBlack community of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuales, Transgender sexes and Intersexual people,  who do not have it.
