Bayaornibè Dabire

Director of the Department of Energy in the Commission of the Community of Western African States (ECOWAS)

Dabire has been especially involved in establishing the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) and in organising a forum about Energy Security in Western Africa.  He has also participated in several high level international meetings about Energy, and he has collaborated in the creation of the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, with headquarters in Praia, Cape Verde.

His actions have included ensuring the effective development of the region´s energy resources, establishing a cooperative mechanism with the aim of ensuring a regular supply of hydrocarbons, promoting the development of renewable energy (solar and aeolian energy, hydroelectricity, biomass, etc.), among others.

Before joining ECOWAS, Dabire worked in the Power Generation Department in Burkina Faso (SONABEL) for more than 17 years. He is specialised in Energy, with versatile training in Law and Business Administration, specialised in the energy sector, from the Montreal School of Higher Commercial Studies (Canada).
