Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
Fuerteventura yesterday celebrated its link with the Spanish Transition and its role in the so-called Conspiracy of Munich. Different institutions, amongst which we find the Spanish Government, the Canary Islands Government and the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, held a tribute to the Conspiracy of Munich yesterday afternoon at the Centro Juan Ismael Art Centre, of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura (calle Almirante Lallermand nº 30, Puerto del Rosario).
The event, organised by Casa África, was attended by two of the Conspiracy's participants, Fernando Álvarez de Miranda and Carlos Bru. Family members of two of the participants at the Conspiracy were also present and who were exiled with Álvarez de Miranda: Joaquín Satrústegui and Jesús Barros de Lis. Finally there was a reunion among these figures of the political transition from Francoism to democracy and the people that took them in on Fuerteventura and made their exile more pleasant: Arístides Hernández Morán, Hortensia Pérez or Marcelino López Melián, among others.
The event is part of the programme of activities of the exhibition Munich 1962. The ‘Conspiracy’ of Concord, organised by the network of Casas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and that until the 10th November will be held in Puerto del Rosario.
