Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
Femi Kuti and his unstoppable afrobeat will be the final performance on Saturday, June 4th, a night to discover new and young musical talents from Africa at the Paraninfo of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Ciudad Universitaria). In this third edition of the África Vive Concert, organised by Casa África with the collaboration of the UCM, the two winning groups of the Cape Verde Vis-a-Vis Festival will perform for the first time in Spain. They will include the surprising hip-hop by ExPavi and the impeccable reggae with touches of afro by Domu Afrika Dub Squad. The audience at the UCM's Paraninfo will also be able to discover the Senegalese pop group Takeifa. This African night will be joined by the collaboration of Casa Mediterráneo, which will provide the fusion of Arab sounds with rock, ska and jazz as performed by Babeloued Sound.
The UCM's Paraninfo was filled last year to dance to the beat of Salif Keita, Konono nº1 and Alpha Blondy, among others. This year's star is Femi Kuti, the heir of Fela Kuti's legend, the father of the afrobeat rhythm, who transforms everything he touches into unbridled whirlwind and dance.
The África Vive Concert will take place at the Paraninfo of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and admission is free. The doors will open at 18:00.
