The CUCID celebrates its tenth anniversary in a ceremony in which it recognises Casa África

This Wednesday, the University Centre for International Development Cooperation (CUCID) of the University of Las Palmas (ULPGC) held a ceremony to celebrate its tenth anniversary in the Sala de Piedra of the Institutional Headquarters of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. During the ceremony, Casa África received recognition from the University of Las Palmas for its collaboration with the CUCID during much of its 10-year history.

The CUCID is the centre created to channel and strengthen the actions of the ULPGC in the fields of cooperation, training, awareness and international volunteering. The tenth anniversary celebration was chaired by Rector José Regidor and the President of the Social Council, Ángel Tristán, and attended by the General Secretary of Casa África, Arianne Hernández, who received the recognition cited above.

Besides Casa África, those recognised in this tenth anniversary of CUCID were Dr Pablo Martel Escobar; Dr José Lopez Feliciano; the University Foundation of Las Palmas; the Coordinator of the NGOs of the Canary Islands; Médicos del Mundo Canarias; CEAR - Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid; Representation in Spain of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees; WorldProject; Complejo Hospitalario Universitario Insular Maternal Infantil of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Dr Francisco Jimenez Cabrera, Head of Cardiology of Hospital Insular; University of Ibn Zohr; José Naranjo; Dr Saul García Mendieta; Dr Juan Rocha; TIDES Institute of Tourism and Sustainable Economic Development; Dr Luis Mateo Lopez Rivero; Cooperation Group for Technical Education, Development and Innovation; Dr Vicente Mirallave; Dr Gerardo Delgado; Ezequiel Guerra de la Torre; Ignacio Nadal Perdomo; UNESCO Chair in Research, Planning and Development of local Health Systems at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; and the Light Infantry Brigade of the Spanish Army, CANARIAS XVI.

The anniversary celebration event also included a talk by Fatimata Dia Sow, Commissioner of Social and Gender Affairs of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
