The war situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo through the eyes and words of two committed journalists was the theme of the conference that Casa África opened its doors to yesterday afternoon. Raquel Villaécija and Alberto Rojas were the protagonists of this meeting, which under the heading # ÁfricaEsNoticia presented Fueling the war, the work that both journalists have carried out was made possible by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the European Journalism Centre in the African country. There they documented with interviews, reports and pictures the experience of one of the most destructive wars in the neighbouring continent, not mentioned very much in the media and that has already resulted in more than 6 million dead, thousands of rapes and all kinds of atrocities and crimes against humanity.
The bloody and terrible conflict, involving several countries in the region has a long history behind it, in contrast to the extraordinary beauty of the landscape and the desire for peace of a people living a hell in paradise. The conference was duly called Congo, a war in paradise and was the second cycle of # ÁfricaEsNoticia, a programme of meetings with journalists on topical issues that started last March and intends to take us, by the hands of Spanish and African experts, to debate, thought and bring us closer to Africa.
