Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
On Monday, the general secretary of Casa África, Arianne Hernández, participated in the Sixth International Conference on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), organised in Madrid by the Union of Family Associations (UNAF), as part of the Programme for FGM Prevention and Intervention subsidised by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security through the Fund for Asylum, Migration and Integration. The sessions were held at the Conde Duque Cultural Centre in Madrid.
The programme included presentations on protocols for intervention at local and municipal levels, education for empowerment, the power of art in the fight against this practice, progress and challenges in its eradication and different NGO and association projects. A number of African speakers participated, including Boge Gebre, of Kembatta Women Standing Together KMG Ethiopia; Fatou Secka, from EQUIS-MGF; Agnès Agboton and Nicole Ndongala, from the Karibu Association.
