Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.

The general director of Casa África, Luis Padrón, and the deputy director general of sub-Saharan Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC), Ignacio Cartagena, made an official visit to Ethiopia to meet on Wednesday 12 October with the Commissioner for Political Affairs of the African Union, Aisha L. Abdulahi.
Padrón took advantage of the trip to attend the celebration of Día de la Hispanidad in the Spanish Embassy in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia. The head of Casa África presented the institution, its objectives and its activities to the many African and Spanish attendees at the official reception convened at the Embassy.
Addis Ababa is the headquarters of, among others, the African Union, so the visit included a broad agenda of meetings, coordinated with the Spanish Embassy in Ethiopia. In addition to the meeting with the Commissioner, the Spanish delegation also met with the head of the African Union’s Commerce and Industry division, Nadir Merah, and with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ethiopian Government. The reception on 12 October was also attended by many of the community of Spanish residents in Ethiopia, a country where there are a large number of Spanish companies operating.
