Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
This morning, the president of the Association of Spanish Entrepreneurs in Senegal (AEES), Gaspar Baños, visited the headquarters of Casa África and met with representatives of the institution including the head of the department for Business and the Economy, Ana Cárdenes, and the head of Communications, Joan Tusell. Baños was accompanied by Isidoro López, a consultant from the Canary Islands.
Baños represents a group of some 250 Spanish companies which have stable physical presences in Dakar, in addition to 100 others that do business in the African country although their headquarters are not physically located there. As he explained, the association is working on the constitution of a Hispanic-Senegalese Chamber of Commerce as exists in other countries such as Ghana.
Cárdenes and Tusell explained how Casa África operates, its history and its planned activities for this year, then there was a discussion about possible areas of collaboration and projects on which to co-operate. Senegal is one of the countries on the west coast of Africa which has the largest presence of Spanish businesses, alongside Cape Verde, Morocco and Mauritania.
