Presentación del «Informe África 2019. Dinámicas transfronterizas en un contexto globalizado»

The Fundación Alternativas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAUC) is organising the presentation of the “Africa Report”

The Fundación Alternativas’ Africa Report is a response to the Spanish State’s growing commitment to strengthen relations with Africa. Consolidating relations between Spain and African states and regional institutions requires society and institutions to have a closer awareness and understanding of the realities of Africa as a whole today, taking into account the context of the different subregions. This effort involves facilitating access to information on the continent and consolidating and disseminating the work of Spanish and African researchers on Africa.

To this end, this first report on Africa, entitled “Cross-border dynamics in a globalised context” has been co-ordinated by Elsa Aimé González and Itxaso Domínguez de Olazábal and consists of thirteen chapters written by renowned specialists.

José Segura Clavell, director general of Casa África, will participate in the welcome session accompanied by Pedro Martínez-Avial, director of Casa Árabe and Diego López Garrido, executive vice president of Fundación Alternativas.

The report will be presented in round-table format and the panel will include:

  • Itziar Ruiz-Giménez Arrieta, professor of international relations and co-ordinator of the African Studies group at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
  • Emilio González Ferrín, Professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Seville.
  • Elsa Aimé González, co-ordinator of the Sub-Saharan Africa Panel of Fundación Alternativas and co-ordinator of the Report.
  • Itxaso Domínguez de Olazábal, co-ordinator of the Middle East and North Africa Panel of Fundación Alternativas and co-ordinator of the Report.
