26º Marathon des Sables (MDS)

The 26th edition of the Marathon des Sables (MDS), (Sand Marathon), one of the harshest foot races in the world, will take place from the 1st to the 10th of April 2010 in the Sahara Desert.  It is organised in stages in the Sahara Desert region south of Morocco, and runners must carry everything needed in terms of food self-sufficiency for a distance of 240 km.
 
The Canary Islands SAR (Air Search and Rescue Service) will participate with three entries supported by Casa África to represent Spain in this race.

The programme for the trial is:

• April 1st: Flight from Paris to Morocco

• April 2nd: Technical and administrative verifications

• April 3rd through 9th: Trial with food self-sufficiency

• April 10th: Free day and trophies

• April 11th: Return flight from Morocco to Paris
