Casa África organises Casa África's Film Cycle

20/11/2015

Casa África today submitted to the media Casa África's Film Cycle, which will take place in the CICCA Cultural Centre of Gran Canaria's capital between 24th Tuesday and 28th Thursday of the next week. Admission is free with limited capacity.

The cycle includes the screening of three documentaries, six short films and four feature films and affirms the personality and wealth of the filmographies that are made on the continent. The documentary films include one dedicated to the Kenyan and Ethiopian runners that are challenging the dominant male chauvinism in their countries, a work on the figure of Mandela and an overview of the literature and the arts in Spanish in Equatorial Guinea. The shorts films are divided, primarily, into two blocks: one of Equatorial Guinea and the other focusing on the work of directors in Kenya. The feature films, finally, are all co-productions: a French-Cameroon one,  a Portuguese-Angolan, a Anglo-Rwandan and a French-Moroccan one. The cycle also will host a round table on African film festivals that will have the presence of the Ugandan writer Agnes Nasozi Kamya, the expert in African cinema Federico Olivieri and the director of the Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Luis Miranda. In this morning's presentation Luis Padrón, Casa África's director general; Fernando Fernández, director general of the Foundation of the Caja de Canarias, and Juan Jaime, head of the Area of Culture and Education of Casa África participated.
