Residencia artística en Hangar BCN

Casa África continues giving more of its support and collaboration to institutions and organisations, not only African but also Spanish, which promote the exchange of artists and encourage creative residences.

These specialist centres provide individual schooling as well as group workshops in an environment of intercultural and multidisciplinary work that promotes an enrichment process as well as cultural diversity.

By supporting the funding of these spaces for creation, Casa África hopes to strengthen its commitment to support creation in Africa, and at the same time working with local members that manage and run the development of the specific projects.

In this way, collaboration with Greatmore Studios in Cape Town, South Africa has started. Greatmore Studios are a specialist cultural centre offering residences to artists.

Given the coincidence of objectives and taking into account the privileged platform for the development of artistic creation it has become, Casa África has put Greatmore in contact with Hangar in Barcelona. Hangar is a large resources centre that offers tools so that artistic projects of different kinds can be undertaken.

As a result of this meeting between both organisations, the South African artist Stephen Conor Ralphs will start an artistic residence from March to June 2012. This exchange of artists will be completed during September to November when a Spanish artist will undertake his residence at Greatmore Studios.
