Foro de Inversiones Turísticas en África. INVESTOUR 2011

As part of the cooperation framework between the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR, International Tourism Fair), and Casa África, in collaboration with ICEX and the Sub-Saharan Africa Work Group created as part of the Consejo Interterritorial de Internacionalización (Inter-territory Internationalisation Council), CEOE, CEIM,  the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, FEAAV and CEHAT, the Forum for Tourism Investments in Africa (INVESTOUR) will take place in Madrid on 20 January 2011.

In this second edition, all the African countries, aside from the guest region of Southern Africa that is represented by the SADC regional block and its 15 member nations (Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe). Five of these countries are among the ten top African nations in terms of the number of tourists who visit each year.

The main objectives of the forum are to present proposals for projects in the African nations to Spanish tourism sector companies, and to favour a meeting between the Spanish and African operators related to the following areas:

  • Funding and investments for tourism projects

  • Promoting and representing destinations in the Spanish issuing market

  • Creating and improving hotel establishments

  • Ecotourism operations in national parks and protected areas

  • Promoting wildlife tourism

  • Promoting cultural tourism

  • Transferring hotel/restaurant and tourism technology

  • Infrastructures and transport
