Foro de inversión turística en África

The global objective of this initiative is to promote sustainable tourism in Africa by opening its destinations to the Spanish outbound and investor market, favouring the growth of the African business network and the creation of employment, through FITUR and with the support of the World Tourism Organisation and Casa Africa. In the first edition of this forum, the ECOWAS region will be highlighted as a special guest.

Following the recommendations of African countries and the Middle East, the two priority initiatives listed below have been identified within this initiative, in light of FITUR 2010:

1. Organising a forum of investments for Africa, with ECOWAS as the special guest

This forum, which is planned to be permanent, is so that African countries may present their investment opportunities in the tourism sector to the Spanish market, as well as being a platform for meetings that will allow for the development of this strategic sector and the creation of employment in Africa. The forum will take place on January 21, and will include a political meeting of the individuals responsible for tourism from ECOWAS and other African countries, followed by a meeting of companies (B2B), to which more than 100 African and Spanish entities have already registered.

2. Preparing a study about the characteristics of Spanish outbound tourism.

This study is based on the need that African countries and the Middle East have demonstrated for becoming more familiar with the Spanish outbound market. The study will be performed between the World Tourism Organisation and FITUR, in collaboration with other institutions of interest such as TURESPAÑA and SEGITUR, among others.
