Festival MiradasDoc 2014

MiradasDoc  is an International Documentary Film Festival of the South that preferentially shows documentary films with a social subject that are produced and filmed in developing countries, as well as those that delve into issues such as North-South relations or emergent social processes etc.

This important festival will celebrate its ninth edition between the 1st and 8th November 2014 in the Tenerife town of Guia de Isora.

MiradasDoc's objective is to look at the planet's social health through documentary films, and one of its main interests is the presence of documentary films, documentary makers and representatives of African culture in the event, including African film-makers in its jury, by sampling of African documentary films and selecting films from that continent for both official selection as well as the documentary film market that is organised every year.

It is for these reasons that Casa África collaborates with the festival since 2007, to enhance the presence in Spain of African documentary films and documentary makers.

This year, Casa África collaborates with the subtitling of the films Excision and N: The madness of reason, thus helping to bring the cinema and the realities of the neighbouring continent to the Spanish-speaking public.

Likewise, Casa África collaborates with participation in the festival of South African director Kurt Orderson, whose project Not in my Neighbourhood has been selected for the 2014 pitching of MiradasDoc Market.
