El niño que soñaba

Casa África is hosting two performances from the musical and theatrical company La Mar de Marionetas in the central courtyard of its headquarters. The company has carried out several projects to create puppets and train puppeteers and last year performed their show, Speak you're not alone in Casa África.

This new show is entitled El niño que soñaba (“The boy who dreamed”) and there will be two performances in the central courtyard of Casa África: the first on Friday 7 October at 5:30pm and the second on Saturday 8 October at 11:30am. The show is recommended for children over 4 years old and lasts approximately one hour.

On Friday, at the end of the show, there will be a concert by  Simao Félix and Toni Dalmau.

The boy who dreamed - an African dream is a joint Guinea Bissau - Spain musical puppet theatre show. The concert brings us the story of Moni, a boy who lives in Guinea Bissau and has an innate capacity for music. The show echoes his dream and accompanies him along the road he has to travel to find his true talent, casting aside illusions and false hopes.

In Guinea Bissau, myths and legends, together with folktales, surround the lives of the children. Between puzzles and tricks, the protagonists of these stories, mostly animals, face conflicts which prepare the boy to adapt himself to his own situation. This work reflects the daily life of a boy who dreams, from song to song, rhythm to rhythm, story to story.

The boy who dreamed is a Cultural Cooperation project featuring artists and organisations from Guinea Bissau. This is a show from the heart, with African music where the composer Simao Felix Da Cunha, of Guinean origin, adds the use of new technologies to his live performance: the loop pedal allows the singer to create a choral effect, layering his extraordinary voice to give harmonies of the purest African flavour. Toni Dalmau, percussionist, carries the beat, the rhythm of the show, as if he were also African born.
