16/11/2012

Casa África's General Director, Santiago Martínez-Caro, today attended the opening of the Conference for African Energy Ministers in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), as part of the agenda of two day meeting in the Ethiopian capital which will allow progress in the preparation for the International Conference on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Africa, which is a high level business meeting scheduled for next February in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria and organised by Casa África.

The opening of the Conference this morning was attended by leading figures such as the African Development Bank's president, Donald Kaberuka; the United Nations Economic Committee's executive secretary, Carlos Lopes; UNIDO's (United Nations Organisation for International Development) Director General, Kande Yumkella, and the European Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs, among others.

During his stay in Addis Ababa, and accompanied by the Spanish Ambassador in Ethiopia, Miguel Fernández-Palacios, Casa África's General Director has held meetings with the African Union's vice-president, Erastus Mwencha,  the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa's executive secretary, Carlos Lopes, an institution with which Casa África collaborates to organise next February's great event showing large Spanish companies in the renewable energy sector a vast range of opportunities and tenders that are offered by the multilateral institutions that operate on the continent.

The International Conference being prepared by Casa África is part of the strategy of the public diplomacy consortium to bring Spanish businesses closer to the large projects of the African continent and the multilateral organisations that offer great opportunities for investment, in a sector that Spain also stands out internationally due to the high level of technology and international experience of its companies.
