Binter presents its new direct connection between Tenerife and Dakar

19/02/2014

As of the 26th March, the island of Tenerife will have a direct connection to Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The flight will be operated on Wednesdays and will last approximately two hours and ten minutes. Casa África's Secretary General, Arianne Hernandez attended the presentation ceremony, which took place yesterday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and was attended by President of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Carlos Alonso and the airline's president, Pedro Augustin del Castillo.

The route to Senegal has been made possible after negotiations held between the Ministry of Development and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Government of Spain and the Ministry of Transport of Senegal, making it possible to upgrade the bilateral agreement between the two countries and consequently increase the frequency.

Direct flight from Tenerife
The new connection from the island of Tenerife will strengthen the route Binter opened in October 2013, with flights from Gran Canaria. The flight from Tenerife will operate on Wednesdays, departing from Tenerife North Airport at 16:15 hours, then heading back to the Archipelago, taking off at 18:05 from the African country.

The start of this new connection from Tenerife coincides with the replacement of the aircraft that currently operate on the route with Dakar, a Bombardier CRJ200, for a new appliance, CRJ900, which will increase the number of seats per flight by 80%.

During the presentation, Pedro Agustín del Castillo highlighted the major investment that the airline is going to carry out to renew and expand the fleet with the purchase of 6 new turbo propelled aircraft, the most modern that ATR manufactures, and that currently exist.

Tickets for the new direct flights to Dakar from Tenerife are now available through all airline sales channels (www.bintercanarias.com, by phoning 902 391 392, through travel agencies and Binter sales offices at airports) .
