A co-creator of Afrobeat, Tony Allen is one of the greatest drummers in the world of grooves; he was the bongo master of the late Fela Kuti’s famous band Africa 70 for over 10 years. Following his successful releases on Comet with Black Voices and Homecooking, Tony Allen presents his first ever live album. After being on the road for 18 months, Tony Allen and his band recorded some truly magical performances of their own signature style of Afrobeat grooves. Live contains 74 minutes of live music from Tony Allen played to a captivated audience – from the Montreux Jazz Festival to the Sao Paulo Forum Social, passing through the Montreal Jazz Festival – delivering an original masterpiece which blends Afrojazz with funk and Afrobeat.
