The Centro Coreográfico de La Gomera (Choreographic Centre of La Gomera) and the headquarters of the insular Cabildo of La Gomera will host from Friday, January 29, to Sunday, January 31, the first Africa-Spain Choreographic Conference, a professional meeting that marks the birth of the África en Movimiento (Africa in Motion) programme.

This project has been created by Casa África with the objective, on the one hand, of facilitating contact and promoting the creative exchange  between Spanish and African dancers; and on the other hand, to bring contemporary African dance professionals closer to the Spanish cultural industry organisers, in this way establishing a direct contact that avoids having to pass through intermediaries from other countries, which has been habitual until now.

For this first choreographic event, Casa África has invited some of the people that are considered to be the most influential in the contemporary African dance scene, who are particularly well known for their work in training new talents and who may contribute towards selecting young people interested in completing creative internships. Among the African professionals that will attend, Sihem Belkhodja (Tunisia), Panaibra Gabriel (Mozambique), Ariry Andriamonratsiresy (Madagascar) and Andreya Ouamba (Congo) may be highlighted.

On behalf of Spain, representatives from the Red Nacional de Teatros (National Theatre Network), dance festival organisers and managers of choreographic centres specialised in creative exchanges and internships will attend.
