Letras Africanas (African Letters): Achmat Dangor in the Canary Islands

El 24 de septiembre en el Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) y el 27 en la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Letras Africanas: Achmat Dangor

Letras Africanas (African Letters) is the programme that Casa África has created in order to bring Spanish audiences closer to the leading voices of contemporary African literature, since readers have a very limited access to that enormous and extremely rich literary production for reasons related to its translation and its scarce integration into our country´s book market.

Through this project, Casa África aims to remedy this gap, from a dual line of action:  to facilitate the presence in various Spanish cities of the continent´s most famous writers, and to promote the reading of some of the works by these authors in the cities visited by the writers.

In 2010, we have had the pleasure of welcoming Tanella Boni in Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, María Nsue in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife, Veronique Tadjo in Vitoria, Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela, and we now welcome Achmat Dangor (from South Africa).

Letras Africanas (African Letters) will be:

  • In Tenerife on September 24, at 8:00 pm, at SILA 2010 at the San Felipe Castle.
  • In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on September 27, at 11:00 am, at the Assembly Hall of the ULPGC´s Professorship Department.
