12th September, 2020 in the 15 Spanish cities which have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites
La noche del patrimonio. 12 de septiembre de 2020 en las 15 ciudades españolas declaradas Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO

Following the success of the two previous editions, the Group of Heritage Cities in Spain has the pleasure of hosting once again the  HERITAGE SCENES festival of artistic excellence, contemporary creation and live heritage of our cities, presenting the best of Spanish choreography in all its forms, thus fomenting Dance and collective participation by people of all ages.

Within the framework of Heritage Night  on Saturday12th September, 2020, the cities of Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza / Eivissa, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristóbal de la Laguna (suspended due to the COVID restrictions imposed by the Government of Canary Islands) , Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo and Úbeda, will simultaneously exhibit the 15 creations of the guest artists which will be streamed live and accompanied by parallel activities linked to dance, such as workshops, presentations and talks, together with video-dance projections.

Casa África, through its programme Africa in Movement, created to foment contemporary African dance, is supporting this initiative by projecting the short films from the project Ella poema/She poems, by the choreographer Aïda Colmenero Dïaz.

The collaboration between Heritage Night and Ella poema consists of the projection of a selection of 5 short films from the cities of Córdoba, Ibiza/Eivissa and Santiago de Compostela as well as live streaming. The short films to be shown are:

The projection of these short films on a loop will take place on:

  • 12th September, at 20.30h, in the cloisters of the Ibiza Town Hall
  • 12th September, at 22.30h, in the Paseo de la Ribera, on the wall of the Alcázar de Córdoba
  • 15th September, at 20.00 h, at the Paraninfo of the University of Santiago de Compostela
  • 12th September at 19.30h online broadcast will be made

Ella Poema is a multidisciplinary project generating pieces of contemporary dance, short films about dance and a series of photographs made by creative women from the continent of Africa, accompanied by the orchestra conducted by the Spanish creator, Aïda Colmenero Dïaz. Inspired by poems written by women, this project, produced in more than twelve different African countries, draws a map of great beauty and visual power, showing the contemporary creation of the African continent by the new generation of female artists.
The project was carried out in: Senegal, Cape Verde, Niger, Nigeria, Togo, Rwanda, Ghana, South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Cameroon, Kenya and Mozambique.
